Bethel Men’s Shelter

The Men’s Warming Center started in the winter of 2007 as a seasonal warming center for homeless men to find a warm meal and a safe place to sleep each night. Originally established through a partnership with the Salvation Army, United Way of York County, and the City of Rock Hill, the Men’s Overnight Shelter gained a permanent home in 2009 at Bethel United Methodist Church, where it remains today.

As the need for homelessness services continued to grow in the tricounty area (York, Chester, and Lancaster Counties), the Bethel Men’s Warming Center began sheltering more and more men each season. Because of this tremendous need and the commitment of Bethel, its partners, and passionate community members, in April of 2019, rather than closing its doors as it does at the end of each warming season, the Bethel Men’s Warming Center remained open and officially became the Bethel Men’s Shelter, the first and only year-round emergency shelter in the tri-county area.
