Our Club’s Impact

The Salesian Boys & Girls Club has been a staple in East Boston since 1945. Generations of families have grown up in our club and we are proud to say our Salesian tradition is that of family. We serve kids in our community and surrounding areas all year long. During the school year our after school program is a home to almost 1000 active members and our nine week summer camp program provides an amazing experience to almost 500 boys and girls.

The majority of our staff is made up of former club members and volunteers who were touched by the culture of the club in such a way, that they wanted to give back and mentor the next generation of young people in our community. They are committed to providing a positive, learning experience to our members so they can become responsible contributing citizens.

The primary mission of the Salesian Boys & Girls Club of East Boston is to assure and enhance the quality of life for youth as participating members of a richly diverse society. With a special concern for the disadvantaged, we help our youth help themselves realize their potential for growth and development.

The Salesian Boys & Girls Club is a key resource for East Boston families who face tremendous challenges including unemployment, crime, drug abuse, low high school graduation rates, and underpreforming schools. These residents have a growing need for resources, especially for its large population of at risk teens and preteens. Approximately 40% of our members live in a single parent home and 71% qualify for free or reduced lunch. The Salesian Boys & Girls Club is a multi-ethnic facility where as many as five languages are spoken by our club members. The families of many of our club members are first generation immigrants. Our mentoring program has an emphasis on education, social growth and healthy lifestyle inititaves. We will continure to provide our young people with the support they need to conquer and overcome some of the barriers that challenge them, and guide them to be successful. Our dedication and passion to providing our youth with such care has positivly impacted thousands of families in this community and sorrounding communties. Whether a child needs a place to play and grow, educational support, help making new friends, motivation to try something new or just a place to be a kid, we are here to provide a safe enviorment with ethusiasm and understanding.

Welcome to the Salesian Boys & Girl Club. After almost 70 years of serving people in the East Boston, Revere, Winthrop and surrounding communities, we can humbly boast of preparing the future leaders of our community. The Salesian tradition of Reason, Religion, Kindness and active presence has prepared thousands of youth to become role models in our community.

That same tradition continues today with the dedicated staff serving our young people who are role models in themselves and were once Club members. I know I was one myself.

It is a privilege as Executive Director to animate our Club to an even brighter future. We claim the Salesian Boys & Girls Club is a home away from home and we welcome you into our home as well as part of our Salesian family.
